Live in the Sunshine! IPC 79

We are halfway through the current Inky Paw’s Challenge.
Check out these colors we are working with.

Life can sometime be hectic.
My inspiration for this challenge is a card that you can whip up really quick.

Live in the Sunshine a card by Diane Morales | Sunscape Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs

Using the Sunscape Stencil and the inspiration colors I came up with this.
I love color blending, I love stencils. This is a marriage of the two
This stencil is perfect for this challenge!
The colors reminded me of a warm summer day at the sea shore.
When creating these kinds of card, the hardest part is deciding what color go where.
In this case, the colors were obvious!
I stared at the top of the card with the yellow to create the sun.

Next, I went to the bottom of the card.  I used the teal to create the waves.

When doing a color only card, I find it easier to start at the top
and bottom and blend the center colors into the top and bottom colors.
With that thought in mind, I added the tangerine to the
yellow sun and the magenta to the waves up to the orange.

A reminder, you might not like color on the first card you make. That’s ok!
It took me four tries with color and stencil to create the look was going for.
With the coloring finished, I was thinking about a with a way to finish the card.

Going thru my Newton’s Nook Stamps I came upon the
sentiments from the Paradise Palms Stamp Set and
knew it was the perfect sentiment for this card.

To the sentiment I added some gemstone bling in coordinating colors.

This card is now finished.
I hope that this inspires you to try color blending.
There are no rules to how you choose to mix your
colors and it is so much fun to do!

With one more week for the current challenge,
plenty of time to try color blending for yourself.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Have an amazing week

Colorful Mermaids. IPC 79

Hello Everybody!

Welcome to a NEW Inky Paws Challenge.

For the next couple of weeks, we have a lovely set of colors for you to work with.

These colors demand to be noticed, so I decided to go BOLD.

You are Mermazing a card by Diane Morales | Narly Mermaid Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs

When it comes to a color challenge the hardest part is deciding what color goes where.
I know I wanted to showcase the Narly Mermaid Stamp Set.
For some odd reason I wanted my mermaid to have yellow hair.
So, I started that with that idea.
Yellow and Teal naturally go together with each other, those will be the two colors I would use on the mermaid.
That left the remaining two colors to use in a background.
Not every card has to be complicated.
For this background I just blue taped off a section of card front
and just started applying Distressed Ink until I got the right texture I wanted.

This is not a hard thing to do, but a friendly reminder start light and build your colors.
You can always add more color, but it is a harder process to take off the color.

Also, this is a great technique for those people just starting out with Distress Ink.
There is no right or wrong you just put dauber on the ink until you like the way it looks.
Super simple. Lots of fun. Definitely addicting. Sorry ahead of time…
When the Distress Ink was dry, I stamped my sentiment directly onto it.

I added my I added my starfish friends in coordinating colors
and added some yellow enamel dots just to bring it all together.
To finish, a bit of glitter from my Stickles stash.

Hope you enjoyed my inspiration.

Your Narly IPC 78

We are halfway through the current Inky Paws Challenge.
What a great challenge we have going on.

Summer would not be complete without mermaids!
That was my inspiration for the current challenge.

Your Narly! a card by Diane Morales | Narly Mermaids Stamp Set by Newton"s Nook Designs

I started this card by getting the background ready.
I used Broken China Distress Oxide Ink that smashed on to White cardstock.
When that was dry, I flicked some Salty Ocean Distress Ink to add some texture and depth.

To create the sandy bottom of my ocean, I die cutting beige cardstock
out using the Sky Boarders Die Set.
Using a little Antique Linen Distress Ink, I darken up the edges
and gave the bottom a “sandier” look.

The feature on this card is the Narwhal and Mermaid from the Narly Mermaid Stamp set.
I love the way the mermaid came out!

I wanted the colors to be bright and vivid, so I used Sharpies to color in all the elements.
I attached all my components to the card using foam tape.
And for a little Flair I grab my box of Stickles and added on hints of glitter here and there.
To finish all my card, I stamped my sentiment on the sandy bottom.
Now it is your turn!
Grab your favorite Newton's Nook stamp and play along with our summer theme.

You have till Friday to show us how you get your PAW’S INKY!
Thanks for stopping by and see you for the next challenge.

Frenzy of Fun IPC 78

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to a new Inky Paw’s Challenge.
What a great challenge we have for the next 2 weeks!

I cannot believe that summer is almost over and how fast that it seemed to go by.
My take on this challenge uses the NEW summer releases from Newton’s Nook Designs
When I saw the Floaty Goat Stamp Set and the Shark Frenzy Stamp
this is the first thing that came to my mind.

Frenzy of Fun a card by Diane Morales | Shark Frenzy Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs

The hard part was how to make it work.
As you know being Crafters, sometimes those fabulously crafty ideas in
our brain do not translate so well when you try to recreate the idea.
Originally, in my head, I had this card as a pop-up card.
But… my crafty overachieving mind could not figure out how to put together.
I went with a regular style card and choose to go with
various shades blue that ended up making the card work.
This card starts out with the sharks. I didn’t want you typical gray sharks.
Using swatches of all the blues available in the Distress ink colors,
I planned what colors will go on what sharks.

Once the Sharks were sorted out, I turned my attention to the goat.
I decided just to have just the basic grey goat with a colorful floaty,
I like the way it looked and popped on the card.
Next, came the waves with all the elements going on I decided
just to cut the waves out of the Sea Boarders Die Set
using just plain card stock. No distressing or coloring.
At this point, I did a mock-up of the card and realize that it really needed
strong backgrounds to make this whole card work with the idea in my head.
Behind the goat, I chose to go with the Clouds Sky Stencil that was
created using Versamark ink and clear embossing powder.

The background base of the card I went with royal blue cardstock,
I thought that it just showcased the rest of the blue colors quite nicely
and added that little something to make the card work.
Now it is your turn, you did not have to use as many components as I did.
Just use your favorite Newton's Nook designs stamp and
the challenge picture above and show us how you get your paws INKY!

Thanks for stopping by.
Have a great rest of the week.
