Inky Paw's Challenge 152 - Color Challenge

Hello Inky Paws Fans!

We are at the halfway point of this current challenge.

A color challenge is a favorite of mine.

Using the challenge colors, I came up with this card.

Let us talk about the star of this show the Retro Sun & Palms Stencil Set.

Growing up in California this is an iconic image, the endless summer.

I chose to put down the first layer of the stencil, offset in the background of the card.

My color choices,

Festive Berries, Kitsch Flamingo, and Scattered Straw Distress Ink

I inked up the stencil from the bottom up.

Where the colors meet, I blended them in softly.

! THIS LAYER OF INK MUST BE DRY BEFORE YOU ADD ON THE NEXT STENCIL !

For my palm trees I made the bold chose of going with Black Soot Distress Ink.

I held my breath while inking on the part of the stencil,

one wrong move and I was starting from the beginning.

All is well and I love the pop of black on the bold challenge colors.

As the background was drying, I turned my attention to

my featured stamp from the Kitten Beach Stamp Set.

I colored in my stamped image with the challenge colors and gray for the kitty.

To finish my card, I added on a sentiment, and adhered

my kitty to the front of my card with fun foam.

That completes my take of the challenge colors.

Hello Sunshine - Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

This week at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

We are saying HELLO SUNSHINE

Featuring stamps and dies by SUNNY STUDIO

You do not have to use the featured company to join in.

But… If you have some of their product in your stash,

Here is my take on this challenge.

It is July that means it is time for Santa to enjoy the last 

moments of vacation before heading back to the North Pole to get ready for the holidays.

I used to tell this story to my kids when they were little and is the idea for this card.

this card is started by stamping and coloring the Santa from 

the Surfing Santa Stamp set by Sunny Studios

I thought this was a good idea, because this would be using the obvious 

summer colors in the background, and I wanted Santa to stand out.

My next step was to sort out the color order of the paper I was using from the

Sunny Studio Classic Sunburst 6x6 Paper Pad.

Since the paper pad is 6x6 that limited the size card I could make.

I went with 3 ¼ wide so that I could use the Box Card Boarders Wafer Die by Simon Says Stamp.

I love this die! Using the Dark Blue Diamond Paper and the w

ave edge die I create an ocean for Santa to surf.

The yellow sunburst paper became a background.

The orange sunburst paper and my Nesting Circle Dies created an endless summer sun.

As I was assembling the card, I realized there was no place for my palm trees.

No problem, an extra piece of Neenah Desert Storm Card Stock sprayed 

with Picket Fence Distress Spray and the wavy Box Card Boarders Wafer Die, made a cute beach for my palm trees.

To finish my card, I stamped my sentiment on my sun and 

embossed with white embossing powder.

Assembled my background beach scene to a card base made

 with Banana Yellow Card stock and added in my palm trees.

Finally, I attached Santa to the front of my card with fun foam and adhered on the drops of water.

 And that completes my take on HELLO SUNSHINE

 and here is my take on the challenge.

A lot of people do not buy themes stamp sets, after the holiday is over what do you do with it?

That is not the case with Newton’s 4th of July Stamp Set.

The images on this stamp set are so cute they could be used for other events.

Here is how I started my card.

The Slimline Frames & Portholes Die is the card base.

I just ran the die thru my die cutting machine with white card stock.

For the inside portion of the die, the portholes, I cut out with off-white card stock.

This gives a little contrast on the card and makes the card not so white.

Using two of the challenge colors and the NEW Fireworks Stencil

 I inked up a background for the portholes.

White card stock and the color choices of Festive Berry and Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide.

That left the yellow challenge color.

I used this color for the wagon and fireworks.

I added a contrasting blue color to make my challenge colors pop.

To finish my card, I assembled my card together, created a sentiment 

and finished off with some sparkly flair that come from the 

Newton’s 4th of July Stamp Set.

Now that my card is done it is time to show us your take on this fun challenge.

Anything Goes - Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

 

This week at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

ANYTHING GOES!

Featuring stamps and dies by KITCHEN SINK STAMPS

You do not have to use the featured company to join in.

But… If you have some of their product in your stash,

We would LOVE to see them used.

Here is my take on this challenge.

My husband loves sailboats, so I naturally I HAD to choose this stamp set.

I never used a multi-step stamp before, so I was a bit of a learning curb.

I decided my best approach was to lay out the stamp in order of stamping content.

This worked best for me, and I did not have to second guess what went next when stamping.

I did do a few tests stamps while I decided on my card design.

This helped me get comfortable with the stamp and decide in the colors of

Tumbled Glass and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Ink.

I wanted a little something extra to the to put my stamped image on,

he Deckled edge on the Stacked Deckled Thinlits Die is always a go to.

Die cutting cut out my rectangle from white card stock 

and then I marked where I wanted to stamp my image.

I preceded to stamp my boat with the chosen colors using the number

guide provided on the stamp package.

Onyx Black Versa Fine Ink for the last accent stamp completed the look.

Once my boat was done, I turned my attention to the sentiment

Using the Onyx Black Versa Fine Ink and then Versamark and Carnation Red Embossing Powder.

Since the card was leaning in a masculine nautical direction, 

I decided to thumb through my paper pack stacks for something that would fit the theme.

I came up with Great Outdoors 6x6 Paper Pack by Honey Bee Stamps

The wonky nautical like stripes make a great base for my stamped design.

For finishing touched on my card I created a card for my

 base from Fog Gray card stock by Simon Says Stamp.

Once that was all adhered together, I added a bit of detail elements from silver stars

 I found in the Rainbow Wishes Sequin Shaker by Little Things from Lucy’s Cards.

  And that completes my take on ANYTHING GOES!

Inky Paw's Challenge 151 - Summer Theme

 

Hello Inky Paws Fans!

We are at the halfway point of this current challenge.

Here is my take on the challenge.

Summer is here and that means fun new stamp sets to play with.

The NEW Beach Barks Stamp Set came just in time for this challenge.

I created my card base by using the Circle Frames Die  and white card stock.

Using the Sea Boarders Die and Dessert Storm Card Stock

 I created “sand” for the lower half of the card.

Next, I turned my attention to the Beach Barks Stamp Set.

I stamped out my image and colored everything in using fun summer colors.

A pop of yellow on the doggie hat adds a bit of whimsy.

For finish off my card, I stamped on my sentiment, placed my doggies

 on the front of the card, and added on sea shells to my beach.

Now that my card is done it is time to show us your take on this fun challenge.

Red/White and/or Blue - Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

 

This week at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

The theme is RED/WHITE and/or BLUE

Featuring stamps and dies by AVERY ELLE

You do not have to use the featured company to join in.

But… If you have some of their product in your stash,

We would LOVE to see them used.

Here is my take on this challenge.

First, how cute is this Peek A Boo Boat Stamp Set!

To get all this cuteness on a card it had to be slimline size.

Using the Slimline Nested Rectangles by Simon Says Stamp

I create a card base with Audrey Blue card stock.

Knowing there was going to be A LOT of blue on the card

I used Dylusions White Linen Ink Spray to break up some of the color in the background.

I used the Slimline Stitched Hillside Boarders by Lawn Fawn

and Soft Navy card stock to create “waves”.

I lined up my “waves” the way I wanted and attached them to the card base.

I also embossed on my sentiment using White embossing powder.

Next, I stamped, colored, and my images using my Spectrum Noir markers.

I kept the red white and blue coloring flowing by adding shades of teal

and I even managed to sneak in a pop of yellow on the boat flag.

After die cutting all my colored images out, I started 

the placement of everything on my card base.

I propped up items here and there with fun foam as needed.

For a final touch I painted on some sparkle with a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Pen.

 

That completes my take on RED/WHITE and/or BLUE
